Bar & Trattoria GORDO DELGADO stands across the green area of Daitokuji's large temple along the Kitaoji-dori Street.
Although it is facing the main street, it's entrance is at the side, as if to quietly take a pause from the business of the streets. 4 table seats and 8 bar seats. Shinya Tsujimoto, owner, states 'there is no intention of trying to make this place look big. Rather more, I want it to be a cozy little space that people can relax and enjoy their meal'. The blue wall evokes a deep ocean, orange ceiling creates a cave-like impression. It is casual but also mature atmosphere.
Lunch has 4 choices, beef grill or pasta, etc. The pasta lunch also comes with 4 choices of the day's pasta using plenty of seasonal ingredients, plus salad and bread (900 yen). Kosuke Shimizu, chef, serves the food in enough amount even for men so that 'the people working around here can be fulfilled from their quick lunch'. Set B (1400 yen) with appetizer shall be better if you have more time, like on your day off. The appetizer comes on a plate with around 5 kinds. Fresh vegetable and fishes are prepared with the least process to leave the original taste. I bet many will be craving for wine with this lunch menu.
Kosuke 'likes the casual restaurant and bar in Italy. It is muchly reflected in the menu here, both for lunch and dinner, might be greater with dinner.' For example, their food is somewhat salty or spicy to match wine. 'I was so happy when an European customer said that they felt like at home with the taste'.
They are open for light cafe or drinks, too. Certain time is limited for lunch customers. Bar seats are the round stools that is good to hang around the place casually. The drink menu is focused on wine, but they also have 2 beer servers, one with regular draft and the other with daily imported brand. A la carte is from 300 yen, draft beer and wine is half priced after 22:00!! I could be here almost everyday if I was living in the neighbor!
