Walking toward south for 2 minutes from Shijokawara-machi, which is a center of Kyoto City, you will see ‘Café&music Kirsche’, which opened 2015 in autumn, on a 3rd floor of white building resembling a storehouse. Kirsche means ‘cherry’ in German. A publication-related company which manages here established this cafe in order to reflect their business. They have lunch and cafe selling general goods together, and moreover they hold a live music performance 20 days in a month at a night time.

The owner says, “I had so many ideas to make happen here, so that I though we needed to prepare all the bases to let thing grow one at a time”. It doesn’t seem like ‘one at a time’ since he has already made a lot of things happen here and that’s why we call here as ‘hybrid’.

Their speciality is absolutely night live music performance. I see now Mr. Takanori Onda, a pianist as a house musician, he plays really well with apron on him. Mainly, female vocalists will be on the stage with different genres every day in rotation. There are 3 stages between 8 p.m. ~ 11 p.m. for 30 minutes each and they don’t charge you more than once in a day. Their regular customers say, “We come here before the live music and have dinner and drink some alcohol then listen to the live music and finally go home with a good feeling. I think we are all able to have amazing times here”.

Besides, it is very interesting to see their general goods by artists and craftsmen whom they met through their publication activities and they also sell plates that they use at their cafe, made by young and energetic craftsmen. They say, “Usually, you can’t buy plates at cafes or any restaurants even though you really want it, you know? but we serve and sell what you want. We also sell one-of-a-kind item as well”.

Let’s talk about lunch here. Daily special lunch (850 yen) and Curry & Omlet rice (750 yen), by Soichiro Hattori chef who trained himself at a genuine Japanese restaurant, are both amazingly superb! Moreover, I do recommend their pudding, chiffon cake, and seasonal jerry hand-made by his staffs as a dessert after lunch or drinks. I see there are a lot of customers who come here to have a dessert plate.

Sounds like we are all full by talking about amazing dishes so that you might feel that how much will it be, but the price is just very reasonable at lunch and their music charge is between 1,000 yen to 2,000 yen at a night time. Additionally, regular vocalists day is a free or 500 yen charge to listen to a live music. Finally, I would like you to enjoy a lot of things at this new music cafe.
