'Gion Rohan' which is managed by Mr. Sugisawa who trained himself at 'Muromachi-Wakuden' and 'Kikunoi' is, so to speak, 'restaurant for adults'. On the menu, you can see something familiar like 'Ginger pork' and 'Deep fried Chicken'. However, the way they cook is based on an orthodox Kyoto cuisine.

Their specialty is 'Saba sandwich' putting vinegar mackerel, a thin slice of Suguki (regional pickle of Kyoto) and a shiso leave between crunchy toasted breads. Well balanced sourness and mackerel fat match with a toast texture, you can eat everything as a last dish even though you are perfectly full.
Enjoy a night of Gion being slightly humble but not too much. 'Gion no Nawate' = Nawa means rope, and Te means hand. So, the name is 'Rohan'. Isn't it easy to remember?
